Your Safety

Although the Internet is great, fun, and resourceful, all Internet users must remember there are billions of people using the Internet throughout the world everyday and online criminals do exist.  Out of the tremendous number of Take It In Trade™ members that use the site, the great majority of those members are honest and reliable people.  However, some caution should be exercised when using Take It In Trade™.   So, for the protection of its members, and as a friendly reminder, Take It In Trade™ wanted to point out a few tips that will help ensure your safety online.

 Things to remember:

  • You should be wary of giving out your personal information, like telephone numbers or addresses.
  • Whenever meeting up with someone, bring your cell phone if you have one.
  • If you answer a personal ad and arrange a meeting, do so in a public place.
  • If you plan to respond to a “for sale” ad or “for trade” ad, bring another person along with you to pick up or view the items for sale or trade.
  • If no one can go with you, make sure to tell someone where and when you are going.
  • If a job ad asks for a resume, do not include personal information, like telephone numbers or addresses, until you verify the company’s existence and that the person receiving the resume actually works for that company.
  • Finally, if something makes you feel uncomfortable, trust your instincts!
